Emery Family Portraits | Glen Haven, MI
Not only are the Emerys some the coolest people we know, but theyβre also family. We loved spending the evening with them in Glen Haven, capturing their family portraits.

Iβve known Wyatt my whole life as my older cousin (hey, itβs me, Miles writing!). Weβve spent many a family gathering in northern Michigan. He grew up in Traverse City- I lived on the other side of the state. I remember playing in the woods together and days at the beaches at Lake Michigan. We both grew up to love this area.
Wyatt moved away for while but I think Traverse City always held a special place in his heart. Shortly after he got married to Maggie and had his first kid, Heidi, they moved back up here because of those memories that we both share of growing up in such an awesome place. I think he wanted that same experience for his kids.
You wouldnβt believe how pumped we were when they reached out asking for family portraits in Glen Haven. We met up with them one summer evening and it was so much fun. You could see the love that they had for each other and the creating of new Northern Michigan memories.
Ryan + Grace | Brengman Brothers Wedding
Ryan and Graceβs wedding day reflected their personalitiesβchill and laid back with an emphasis on fun. It was the quintessential summer day in Northern Michigan. Rich blue skies reflected in the waters of Lake Michigan as Ryan and Grace met each other for their first look along the bay.

Rich blue skies reflected in the waters of Lake Michigan as Ryan and Grace met each other for their first look along the bay. From there, classic greens and whites set the tone of their winery wedding celebration. Guests made their way up to hilltop surrounded by a forest of trees on one side and rows of vineyard on the other. For the ceremony, Grace donned her motherβs wedding veil and made her way down the aisle to her emotional Groom. After the vows, Ryan and Grace were pronounced husband and wife and escaped for a few moments between the vines to soak in the precious moments. Guests enjoyed the festivities underneath a white tent on the lawnβfrom cocktail hour to dinner and speeches. After the late evening sun had dipped below the horizon, Ryan and Grace joined their wedding guests and lit up the dance floor for the rest of the night.
Congratulations Ryan and Grace! What a wonderful day!

Mark + Lindsay | Traverse City Wedding | The Peninsula Room
When Mark and Lindsay initially reached out and shared their love story with us, I couldnβt help but audibly gasp. It felt straight out of a movie! We really truly love Mark and Lindsay and their children. Every time we have had an opportunity to photograph them has been an absolute joy. We are so happy that they found each other and are so honored that they chose us to document this piece of their story.
When Mark and Lindsay initially reached out and shared their love story with us, I couldnβt help but audibly gasp. It felt straight out of a movie! Growing up in the same small town, working at his familyβs local grocery store together and then reuniting years and years later in that same small town where Mark finally asked Lindsay out on a date. And from there, as you can see, the rest is history.
The day of their wedding was a stark difference compared to their winter engagement session earlier in the year. September 2nd brought blue skies and sunshineβa lovely day for a wedding. Instead of a classic bridal party, Lindsayβs children stood with them and her two boys even walked her down the aisle. Mark and Lindsay surprised all of their guests with a special performance by NUCLASSICAβplaying during the ceremony, cocktail hour, and then really stepping it up during the reception! The room was electric and everyone couldnβt wait to get out on the dance floor. Finally, Mark and Lindsay snuck away to watch the sunset on the beach across the road before coming back to a sparkler βre-entranceβ into their reception celebration.

Mark + Erin | Willowbrook Mill | Northport Wedding
Mark and Erin embraced all the moments on their wedding day. Starting from getting ready with their respective wedding parties in Erinβs parents home and ending with a hazy pink sunset on the beach, they chose to soak in and cherish every moment between.

When Mark and Erin first reached out, we asked them what they were looking for in their wedding photographer. When Erin shared with us that candids were super important to her with a few portraits sprinkled in, we knew we would be a good fit!
After the ceremony and a quick excursion to the Woolsey Airport with their bridal party, Mark and Erin arrived at the whimsical Willowbrook Mill for cocktail hour and reception. There was laughter and happy tears during speeches and dances before Mark and Erin opted for a breath of fresh air down at the waterβs edge at the end of the night.
Congratulations Mark and Erin!

Nick + Ann | Walloon Lake Inn
Nick and Annβs intimate wedding celebration took place in the beautiful Walloon Lake Inn. After the downpour had cleared, the sun returned, bringing with it a rainbow that stood out against the dark storm clouds.
Nick and Annβs intimate wedding celebration took place in the beautiful Walloon Lake Inn. Ann got ready and dressed with her mother and bridesmaids at the Hotel Walloon before we took some bridal portraits down the hall against the wall of gilded mirrors. From there we made the short walk down the street to the Walloon Lake Inn where the rest of the festivities were to occur. With rain on the forecast, Nick and Ann said their vows on the front lawn under the shelter of a tent. And the rain did eventually come. After the downpour had cleared, the sun returned, bringing with it a rainbow that stood out against the dark storm clouds. Nick and Ann with their bridal party, made the walk back to Hotel Walloon for a breath of fresh air and some portraits by the water.
After dinner, everyone moved to the dance floor outside where sunset hues of pink and purple illuminated the sky behind them. Everything about Nick and Annβs wedding day was beautiful and we loved being a part of telling their love story.

Simon | Senior Portraits
Simon is currently studying music theory and audio technology. When heβs not at school, he loves playing guitar, listening to music (he is a big fan of Thom Yorke), or absolutely wrecking everyone playing Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo Switch.
This senior portrait session was extra special because the senior was Milesβ brother, Simon! My sister, Grace was graduating the same year, so we took a short sibling road trip just an hour from Traverse City, to Port Oneida for their senior portraits.

The combo of Miles and Simon together, had us laughing most of the session, and it was super fun to capture Simon being the cool guy that he is.
