Port Oneida Beach Portraits | Weston
Weston is a local songwriter and he wanted some updated photos to release with his upcoming song.
These beach portraits are extra special because we got to photograph Miles' cousin, Weston and his dog Elliot. Weston is a local songwriter and he wanted some updated photos to release with his upcoming song.
We almost rescheduled because of the weather. We had extremely dark clouds, harsh wind, and the threat of rain looming overhead. At the last minute, we decided to make the drive out to Port Oneida anyway and make the portraits happen no matter what. We are so thankful we did because we ended the night with the most spectacular sunset and it was the perfect backdrop for these beach portraits.
Langley Senior Portraits | Port Oneida
We loved photographing the beautiful Langley in Port Oneida for her senior portraits. We adventured around the area to take photos everywhere from an old historic schoolhouse, to a field full of Queen Anne's lace, and eventually ending up at the beach. Because on stunning summer nights in Northern Michigan, we often find ourselves at the beach.

Maternity Portraits | Bill and Michelle
We photographed Bill and Michelle's Maternity Portraits on a gorgeous September morning. We met them a couple hours after sunrise, and though it was a bit chilly with the wind, it was the perfect golden morning. It was an honor to capture their growing family.

We met them a couple hours after sunrise, and though it was a bit chilly with the wind, it was the perfect golden morning. It was an honor to capture their growing family and we were so excited when they reached out to us again this year for family photos with their baby girl! Keep an eye out for that blogpost coming soon!
Perreault Family | Suttons Bay
It was an honor to photograph the Perreault Family in Suttons Bay. They were staying at a gorgeous property on the beach, and the kiddos enjoyed splashing in the water at the end of their session.

Whitbeck Family Portraits
It was a beautiful morning to wander down to the lake to capture the Whitbeck family. After some formal portraits, we stuck around as the family prepped their breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes outside.
It was a beautiful morning to wander down to the lake to capture the Whitbeck family. After some formal portraits, we stuck around as the family prepped their breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes outside. Little hands reached in to help their grandma stir and pour the batter while other hands snuck a few chocolate chips here and there. Meanwhile, a small game of kicking around a volleyball was happening along the shore and thankfully it only managed to splash into the water a few times. We packed up our gear, said goodbye to the family, and left as they all dug into a sweet breakfast together. We love capturing moments and memories amongst family.
Hanson Family | Arcadia
We chose to document the Hanson family with a few traditional group smiling photos but beyond that, we opted to document them interact organically. On a beach in Northern Michigan, that meant the kids tossing stones into the water, trying to outrun each other, and lots and lots of twirling in pretty dresses all with a stunning sunset backdrop. I think it’s our favorite type of portrait session to document, ones that feel like real life and truly reflect our subjects personalities. It’s one of things we love the most about photography, when we can actually tell stories through our cameras.
We were invited out to Arcadia to document the beautiful Hanson family last summer. With their permission, we brought our daughter Edith (a few months old at the time) and carried her in the baby carrier while we photographed. It ended up being a true joy as the girls were just ecstatic to look at the camera and say 'Hi, Edith!'. We ended up with some of the sweetest, authentic smiles and giggles and at the end, I crouched down so the girls could say a proper hello to Edith. Their oldest was just a gem as she walked over and so gently held Edith's hands and quietly whispered hello.
