Kyle and Lucy | Peninsula Room Wedding
From an intimate first look, to a ceremony with friends and family, to dancing the night away, it was an honor to celebrate alongside Kyle and Lucy as they finally got to live out the wedding of their dreams.
Kyle and Lucy's beautiful Peninsula Room wedding was the perfect way to wrap up our wedding season for 2021. Albeit a little windy, we had near perfect weather and had an AMAZING sunset down by the water. From an intimate first look, to a ceremony with friends and family, to dancing the night away, it was an honor to celebrate alongside Kyle and Lucy as they finally got to live out the wedding of their dreams after having to postpone the year previous.

Everything about Peter and Sarah’s wedding was dreamy. Colorful florals all around, a perfectly blue sky, and the couple themselves– I mean, c’mon–we can’t say enough good things about Peter and Sarah!

It was a mini road trip for us down to Creekside Acres, but it was a beautiful day for it. When we arrived, we were welcomed by both of them like we were old friends. Peter quickly had us laughing at his goofy faces and lighthearted jokes and Sarah was a kindred spirit. Both of them were grinning ear to ear all day.
I was shooting through tears during their first look because Peter and Sarah's emotional reaction to seeing one another had me choked up as well. Just look at how they look at each other!
Both Peter and Sarah are avid rafters so it only made sense they had their rafting instructor marry them. It was a beautiful and emotional wedding day all the way through. We were honored to capture their day and their love.

Brandon and Allie's wedding day began with dark clouds and a heavy thunderstorm but ended with the most magnificent sunset.
Brandon and Allie's wedding day began with dark clouds and a heavy thunderstorm but ended with the most magnificent sunset.
We packed our umbrellas with all of our gear and made our way to meet them at their prep location. They decided to do their first look underneath a covered porch to keep themselves as dry as possible. After that, the rain let up enough to do bridal party portraits outside.
However, when we arrived at Ciccone Vineyard for their ceremony set up, the clouds let loose to an extreme downpour. We took cover inside the barn where Brandon and Allie along with their wedding planner, made the decision to move their ceremony under a tent. Despite the rain, Ciccone was the perfect venue.
Just after the ceremony, the clouds parted to sunshine and Brandon and Allie snuck out to their original ceremony site for their ten-minute rule. We stayed back with our cameras to allow them some privacy while we documented them from afar as they soaked in their first few minutes as newlyweds.
After a while of busting some wicked moves on the dance floor, Brandon and Allie were ready for a break and breath of fresh air outside.
We love scheduling in a little window of time to sneak out for portraits during the reception. It allows us to capture some of the more intimate, romantic portraits beyond the the typical smiling at the camera ones earlier in the day. Bonus points when Northern Michigan gives us a night like this one with cotton candy clouds and the sun setting over the vineyard.
Take a look for yourself to see Brandon and Allie's magical golden hour portraits.

Frankfort Family Farm Wedding | Cameron and Jordan
Immediately after the ceremony, Cameron and Jordan tucked between the cherry trees to enjoy a few quiet moments to themselves. All around them, the cherry trees shone iridescently in the sun. In their faces, the reflection of love and adoration for each other. It was so lovely to witness.
FRANKFORT FAMILY FARM WEDDING
It was a beautiful day for this Frankfort Family Farm Wedding.
Cameron and Jordan started their day surrounded by prayer.
Several months prior, the world changed. Along with it came the changing of many wedding plans. Though they weren't able to have all their loved ones in attendance, Cameron and Jordan were determined to get married. Those who came joined them for their cherry orchard ceremony. Blue skies and sunshine shone down on them as they pledged their vows. It was there that they took communion together and committed their love and devotion to one another.

Shortly thereafter, Cameron and Jordan joined their guests for the reception. In the old barn they shared drinks, dances, and laughter.
We ended the night with the two of them dancing on the big lawn while the sun set.
The perfect ending to the perfect summer day.

Kurt and Amanda were married on a beautiful day at Crystal Mountain. We finished the night off by riding the ski lift to the top of the hill at sunset.
Kurt and Amanda were married on a beautiful day at Crystal Mountain.
After final detail and prep photos, we all prepared for the first look with lots of eager anticipation. There are a lot of emotions tied into first looks but they are some of our favorite parts of weddings. The time together, just the two of you, before getting caught up in the rush of the day’s events, is just so special.
At the bottom of the ski hill, Kurt waited with his back toward his bride, as Amanda made her way nervously across the lawn. It felt as though we were all holding our breath as she called out his name, and he turned-- You can see the instant joy lighting up his face at beholding his stunning bride. They held each other close for several moments as he wiped away her happy tears and kissed her sweetly. Suddenly everything is relaxing and fun as you share about your mornings getting ready and giggle about your nerves before the first look. Everything seems a lot less nerve-wracking when you go into it all hand and hand with your partner.
Kurt and Amanda spent practically the rest of the day grinning ear to ear.
We finished the night off by riding the ski lift to the top of the hill at sunset. Amanda nestled so comfortably in Kurt’s arms sharing such an intimate moment that we had the honor of photographing.
Congratulations Kurt and Amanda!

2019 Review
End of the year review looking toward the future growth of our photography business in 2020 and beyond. What better way to wrap up the year and start the new one than with a blogpost of all our favorite behind-the-scenes moments from our 2019 wedding season? So without further ado, enjoy these silly, ridiculous, real moments that happen on the OTHER side of lens.

Hello friends & Happy New Year!
2019 was a big year for us, both personally and professionally. In January, we were engaged and began planning our wedding for the end of the year. In the midst of this, we photographed ten beautiful couples and their weddings over the duration of the summer, all as associate photographers for Dan and Melissa--Sarah's parents. We married on a gorgeous day in early October and spent our honeymoon in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. When we returned, we wrapped up the 2019 wedding season, thus also ending our time as associate photographers and beginning the journey of our own photography business, as Miles and Sarah Photography!
Building this website has been and continues to be a fun work in progress. We are dedicated to using it to share not only our own stories, but the stories of all the couples we are blessed to capture and the vendor friendships that will continue to flourish and grow in the Northern Michigan community. We couldn't imagine calling anywhere else home or living any other dream than the one we are living. 2020 couples, we are so ready for you!
All that said, what better way to wrap up the year and start the new one than with a blogpost of all our favorite behind-the-scenes moments from our 2019 wedding season? So without further ado, enjoy these silly, ridiculous, real moments that happen on the OTHER side of lens.
Thanks for an awesome wedding season!
