Mitch + Amber | Glen Arbor Wedding
Mitch and Amber met and fell in love with the beauty of Northern Michigan. So it was an obvious choice for them to share this special place with all of their guests on their wedding day. The Homestead Resort based in Glen Arbor was the perfect setting for their vows and we were even able to sneak off to the beach for photos with a Lake Michigan backdrop.

As we got to know Mitch and Amber leading up to their day, we found out they had a son around the same age as our daughter! Their son was such a fun addition to their wedding day and the cutest little dancer during the reception. It was a joy to be a part of Mitch and Amber’s beautiful intimate Michigan wedding and tell the story of their day through photographs.
Cheers to their sweet little family & their Northern Michigan love story!

Everything about Peter and Sarah’s wedding was dreamy. Colorful florals all around, a perfectly blue sky, and the couple themselves– I mean, c’mon–we can’t say enough good things about Peter and Sarah!

It was a mini road trip for us down to Creekside Acres, but it was a beautiful day for it. When we arrived, we were welcomed by both of them like we were old friends. Peter quickly had us laughing at his goofy faces and lighthearted jokes and Sarah was a kindred spirit. Both of them were grinning ear to ear all day.
I was shooting through tears during their first look because Peter and Sarah's emotional reaction to seeing one another had me choked up as well. Just look at how they look at each other!
Both Peter and Sarah are avid rafters so it only made sense they had their rafting instructor marry them. It was a beautiful and emotional wedding day all the way through. We were honored to capture their day and their love.

Brandon and Allie | Ciccone Vineyard
Brandon and Allie's wedding day began with dark clouds and a heavy thunderstorm but ended with the most magnificent sunset.
Brandon and Allie's wedding day began with dark clouds and a heavy thunderstorm but ended with the most magnificent sunset.
We packed our umbrellas with all of our gear and made our way to meet them at their prep location. They decided to do their first look underneath a covered porch to keep themselves as dry as possible. After that, the rain let up enough to do bridal party portraits outside.
However, when we arrived at Ciccone Vineyard for their ceremony set up, the clouds let loose to an extreme downpour. We took cover inside the barn where Brandon and Allie along with their wedding planner, made the decision to move their ceremony under a tent. Despite the rain, Ciccone was the perfect venue.
Just after the ceremony, the clouds parted to sunshine and Brandon and Allie snuck out to their original ceremony site for their ten-minute rule. We stayed back with our cameras to allow them some privacy while we documented them from afar as they soaked in their first few minutes as newlyweds.
After a while of busting some wicked moves on the dance floor, Brandon and Allie were ready for a break and breath of fresh air outside.
We love scheduling in a little window of time to sneak out for portraits during the reception. It allows us to capture some of the more intimate, romantic portraits beyond the the typical smiling at the camera ones earlier in the day. Bonus points when Northern Michigan gives us a night like this one with cotton candy clouds and the sun setting over the vineyard.
Take a look for yourself to see Brandon and Allie's magical golden hour portraits.

Traverse City Barn Wedding | Ben + Joanna
We have been waiting to post this Traverse City Barn Wedding for a long time. Get ready to laugh, cry, and feel your heart swell. We have been friends with Ben and Joanna for a number of years. When Miles and I got engaged, Ben and Joanna photographed our engagement session AND wedding. So it was an honor to do the same for them.
Traverse City Barn Wedding
We have been waiting to post this Traverse City Barn Wedding for a long time. Get ready to laugh, cry, and feel your heart swell. We have been friends with Ben and Joanna for a number of years. When Miles and I got engaged, Ben and Joanna photographed our engagement session AND wedding. So it was an honor to do the same for them. We photographed their engagement session earlier in the year. You can see that post HERE. After that session, we were all the more excited for their wedding day and we can honestly say that it did not disappoint. Ben and Joanna are wholeheartedly in love with one another and you can feel it emanating from every photograph.
Ben and Joanna were planning a May 2020 wedding when for obvious reasons, their plans were disrupted. After going back and forth on what they should do, Ben and Joanna decided to postpone their wedding a few months. It was important to them to celebrate with their closest friends and family. Instead of early spring, Ben and Joanna settled on the beginning of August. It ended up being absolutely perfect.
This Traverse City barn wedding took place at none other than Joanna's family house. While Ben got ready with his guys, final beard trimming and hair combing, Joanna got ready at her childhood home surrounded by her lovely bridesmaids.
Instead of doing a first look with Ben, Joanna opted to do a first look with her bridesmaids. It was such a special moment between them all.
Because they didn't do a first look, everyone at the ceremony witnessed Ben's emotional reaction to seeing his Bride for the first time on their wedding day. As Joanna's father escorted her down the aisle, Ben simply couldn't catch his breath. His reaction had all of us sobbing. We could barely even see through our viewfinders in our cameras because we were crying so hard! Even now looking back at the photos makes me super emotional.
All in all, it was the perfect August day celebrating these two.
